TRAINING

Are you interested in learning how to better strengthen communities and communicate more effectively? Take a look at the following trainings to give you an idea of what Practice Restorative can offer. All trainings are catered to fit your needs and goals. In-person is strongly preferred, but virtual is an option.

Communication for Connection

Learn this simple yet profound communication framework that can change how we relate to others. Communication for Connection grounds words and actions in a consciousness that cultivates compassion and connection. We will look at habitual, unhelpful ways that we typically communicate and work to shift our practices and mindset to a productive and healthy approach.

The WHAT and WHY of Restorative Practices

This session covers the philosophy and mindset of Restorative Practices, the continuum of skills and tools, and the reasons why Restorative Practices are so important. This session is the foundation for further training and is an excellent starting point for shifting thinking and practices.

Simple Steps for Creating Change Using Restorative Practices

This session focuses on proactive approaches and skills for creating a stronger climate. We will examine how we can shift unhelpful language and practices that lead to conflict and division. With a strong emphasis on Communication for Connection, the goal is to build a strong foundation of relationships and achieve healthy communication practices.

Restorative Conversation: Low Level Conflict Resolution

When viewed from a Restorative Practices approach, conflict does not have to be scary and overwhelming – it can be an opportunity for growth. We will teach simple questions, practices and skills that make a significant difference in those hard moments. By the end of our three hours together, you will have skills and feel confident and ready to have a “Restorative Conversation.”

Circles: The Foundation of Restorative Practices

Circles are the foundation of Restorative Practices and provide a model for being together in a unique way. This session explores the many uses of circles, reviews the important components, and uses experiential learning and hands-on planning practice to get comfortable with the circle process. At the end of this session, participants will be ready to facilitate a circle on their own.

Leadership Team Training

This is a great starting place for your Leadership Team! Learn the fundamentals of Restorative Practices and Communication for Connection and how they can benefit your group. Have participatory conversation, experience a circle, brainstorm ideas for implementation, role play conflict resolution. This session is yours to create!

COACHING and CONSULTING

Coaching and Consulting is intended for groups that have made the decision to implement Restorative Practices and have been through training. Coaching allows for a Restorative Practices expert to offer one-on-one conversation, modeling, observation and constructive feedback. Consulting is intended to provide support in shifting to a Restorative approach, whether in evaluating policy or determining first steps for implementation. Rooted in the values of connection, courage and growth, these are ideal ways for leaders and group members to apply and improve what they have learned from trainings.

FACILITATION

Conflict Resolution Facilitation

Do you have a conflict that you need help with? Restorative Justice Conferencing and Circles offer a path forward. A Restorative Conference is ideal for interpersonal conflict; a Circle is better for group conflict. Each process uses a trained facilitator to create a safe space, foster respectful conversation, and help participants problem-solve and come up with a mutually agreed-upon solution. The goal is to repair harm, promote healing and grow as individuals and communities. Using a Restorative Justice facilitator provides structure to an oftentimes messy and difficult process.

Proactive Circle Facilitation (adults)

This is an amazing opportunity for your school or leadership team or working group to participate a circle. An experienced Circle Facilitator will lead your group through a meaningful circle that will help all participants get to know each other, build relationships, and find common ground. Great for staff or special teams that want to strengthen relationships, find purpose, or vision together. Ideal time frame is 1-3 hours; ideal number of participants is 5-25.

Proactive Circle Facilitation (kids ages 4-17)

Same as above, but intended for kids and teens. Ideal time frame is 20-60 minutes (catered to the age of the youth and the time frame that is available).

Restorative Retreat Day

Is your team in need of a retreat day to reset, problem-solve, brainstorm, or just spend some time together and grow as a community? This day can be a combination of circle sharing, self-reflection time and community-building activities to help your team grow. Catered to the needs of your group, we offer facilitation for a full day of activities. Space is not provided.
